Printing & shading guide
Ninety percent of scanning problems are printing problems. These six habits keep every capture clean.
Print at 100%
Print in A4 at 100% / actual size — never "fit to page" or "shrink to fit". A shrunk sheet won't match the scanner's expected geometry.
Keep the corners clean
Black-and-white photocopies are fine — but keep the four corner squares and the small corner glyph unobstructed. The scanner uses them to find and orient the sheet.
Fill the bubble
Learners shade with pencil or pen — fill the bubble; avoid check marks or dots.
Erase fully to change
To change an answer, erase completely (pencil). GRADIFY compares shades per question, but a clean erase avoids review flags.
Bubble the LRN carefully
The 12-digit LRN is how GRADIFY matches the paper to the learner. A careful LRN means an automatic match.
Flatten before scanning
Don't fold or crumple through the bubble area; flatten papers before scanning for the cleanest reads.
